Haku's Journal
*looks back over page when done* Fuck... I really nerded out on this one.... *headdesk*
Haku found one day that he had the ability to freeze water, a bloodline ability he inherited from his mother. But those who had special abilities such as that had gone into hiding long ago due to civil wars that devastated the Land of Water. The wars had used the clans with kekkei genkai (the bloodline traits) as mercenaries, but when the fighting stopped, the regular people feared the clans. Further down the line, Haku's mother hid her true heritage and didn't use her abilities, for fear of being discovered. Though when Haku showed his mom what he could do, his dad saw too. His father was one such person who was biased against those with special abilities. He brought a mob one day and killed his wife. They would've killed Haku too, but the poor kid was so scared he accidentally tapped into his abilities and caused a lot of massive ice spikes to be driven through the house. Coincidentally, this killed his father and the mob. From there he started living on the streets alone, lamenting, more so than the loss of his parents, his lack of purpose as there was no one in the world who needed him.
Later on, he was picked up off the streets by Zabuza when he was 9 or 10 and Zabuza was about 20. (I know I've been saying that Haku was 6 or 7, but that was before I used a calculator to do the math.... See how much I suck at math? :P) Zabuza then trained Haku in advanced ninja techniques as well as everything he knew. He became so strong that he was able to take on the strongest opponents, outnumbered, in the dark, or any other circumstance, and hit them with perfect accuracy (as Zabuza says in epi 15). As long as he has the incentive (mainly Zabuza) he will usually not hesitate to kill, which in Zabuza'a book, makes him the perfect weapon.
Despite the description of him being a hardened tool, he's really not a mean kid. He is nice (to a point of being "too soft and too kind") and polite. The only way this changes is if someone says something offensive (from his pov) about or to Zabuza, then he's highly likely to get pissed at that person and want to beat the shit out of them. Or break one of their limbs.
Going back to fighting ability and the like, he's fast even without using his Mankyou Hyoushou (demonic ice mirrors), which would allow him to move between ice panels so fast, his opponent appears to be moving in slow motion. He's the only known ninja able to perform hand signs with one hand. Everyone else uses two hands (not to be confused with the single-handed chakra focus thing...).
Moving on (before I bore the lot of you), it was when Haku and Zabuza faced Kakashi and his three students, Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke, that both met their untimely ends. Naruto had just activated the Kyuubi's chakra and broke Haku's mask, revealing his face, which apparently brought Naruto back to himself. Haku then went on to tell Naruto about his past and that he fought for Zabuza because it gave him purpose in life. Haku then told Naruto that Zabuza had no use for a broken tool and for him to kill him. When Naruto finally brought himself to do it, Haku sensed that Zabuza needed him. So he stopped Naruto from killing him and disappeared to save Zabuza. Haku got between Kakashi's attack and managed to get rid of his summoned dogs that restrained his master. However, the attack hit him and he died. Zabuza at first acted impartial to Haku's death, but after Naruto gave him a big speech about how Haku loved him and lived for him, Zabuza showed remorse and killed Gatou before dying of all the injuries he sustained from his fight with Kakashi (both his arms being stabbed) and Gatou's other hired thugs (stabbed in the back sooooo many times). After the whole fight ended, Zabuza asked Kakashi to bring him to Haku's body. There, Zabuza forced his useless arm up to Haku's cheek and died himself after wishing he could go with Haku, where he was going. Not long after, the two were buried side by side on a cliff overlooking the village and the bridge.
It's because of this that I'm playing Haku as loving Zabuza, but being too shy to say anything.
Moving into the realm of DDD...
Three years passed since that day and Haku awoke in the Land of Waves. He had his mask again, his senbon, and a magic book/laptop too. Though the one thing he didn't have was Zabuza. He came to DDD and asked if anyone had seen Zabzua. Though not long after having joined, Haku found his master. Happy to see Zabuza alive as well, he told off several people for accusing him of being a horrible person for using a kid as his personal tool.
Through Haku's journal, he found that Zabuza was in the Earth Country and decided to wait until he heard about a more specific location until going to look. However, many days passed and still no answer came. Haku grew worried and began to feel his purpose and usefulness slip away once more. So he offered to help if needed in the murder investigation (sort of) and talked to Queen Garnet (who invited him and Zabuza to come visit anytime >_>;;; or as her mun put it, she was basically inviting them over for tea and pastries... *puts art bunny in basket for later*) about Vivi, whom he had talked to once. However he never had time to actually ask L if he could help as B killed him out on the Great Naruto Bridge, where he had been crossing on his way to find Zabuza. (B snapped his neck. T_T;;;) Though because Zabuza hasn't been on the comm lately, he doesn't know Haku died... again.... (Poor kid doesn't get cut a break with me as mun....) After, about a week, he was brought back to life with a few of the other victims. As a result, he's sworn to kill B if he ever runs into him (or at least try to).
Since reuniting with Zabuza in the Bear Country at the start of December, he used his Makyou Hyoushou ability to worldhop them to Alexandria, where Garnet opened her home to them. They've been there ever since.
During the Fairy Tale virus he thought he was Will Scarlet, brother to Robin Hood/Sasuke.
Other Notes
- He had a lengthy off-the-record conversation with Darc (meaning it was done on AIM and it would've been a pain in the ass to get it somewhere on LJ... *facepalm*) and found that they had quite a bit in common.
- He's told off Eowyn and Bourne for talking about Zabuza like he was a horrible person for having Haku as a weapon. He may have gotten a little bit through to Bourne, but Haku still thinks he doesn't get it.
- He told Darkwing that he was going to go find Zabuza alone despite the duck's warnings to travel in groups. If Haku remembers this, he won't be surprised if he gets an "I told you so".
- He doesn't want people knowing he's killed a bunch of people and that technically he's an assassin too, because he knows he can be nice and he doesn't want people judging him right off as a bad person. But he feels bad about not telling a lot of the people he's met that he's a missing-nin.
- Technically, he's supposed to be 18, but since he died when he was 15... he's still 15 in my book, which makes him shota to Zabuza (who was 26 when he died and would be 29 had he lived).
