Background: Kadaj was one of three brothers supposedly created to aid the return of Sephiroth to Gaia. He is the youngest of the three, with Yazoo being the oldest, and Loz being the middle child; Kadaj embodies the cruel and vengeful side of Sephiroth's personality, Loz is his confusion and outer masculinity, and Yazoo his allure and cold detachment. After a brief and violent spree of torture and destruction in search of Jenova, Kadaj was defeated by Cloud Strife, at which point he was able to join with Jenova's cells and become Sephiroth. However, Cloud also managed to defeat the re-created Sephiroth who reverted back to being Kadaj; now near-death, Kadaj's body was welcomed into the Lifestream by Aeris, whom he still regards fondly as a maternal influence in his life.

His return to a physical form is a mystery to him as well as Zack and Aeris. It's possible that the Lifstream refused to accept him - or perhaps the planet has further plans for him, hence his re-materialisation on Gaia. Either way, he's glad to be back.

Personality: Kadaj is unstable to the point of near emotional collapse. As he embodies Sephiroth's cruel and vengeful side, he enjoys starting flame wars and picking fights with people, although he is usually incapable of taking the insults he receives in return. He has even been known to goad other DDD members into coming to Gaia to take him on, such as with Lloyd.

However, the cruel and sadistic personality with which the other DDD members are now very familiar only serves to mask his fragile and lonely existence. He always feels as if he has something to prove, more to himself than to anyone else, and so takes great pleasure in loudly telling everyone what he's been doing, especially if he thinks it will bring him some attention. His original purpose - to bring about Sephiroth's return and further Jenova's cause - is now redundant, and he is left with doubt and uncertainty, constantly wracked by inner turmoil and endless questions as to the validity of his own existence. What he craves most is love, affection and guidance; in truth, he is little more than a lost and frustrated child.

(So, in short, ANGST.)

Kadaj initially joined DDD with the intention of tracking down Rufus ShinRa for whom he harboured a deep hatred as Rufus was the one who put a bullet through Jenova's head. His early days of posting to DDD were marked by epic flame wars which stretched on for hours as Kadaj tried to locate Rufus in order to kill him.

Adventures In DDD:

Another DDD member whom Kadaj took an instant dislike to was Dante, who found it easy to bait Kadaj on the subject of his mother. Their animosity escalated to the point that Kadaj stalked Dante back to his world after the Halloween Party 2006, and ambushed him with the intention of dealing Dante some serious injury. However, Kadaj had severely underestimated his opponent, and Dante almost killed Kadaj by pumping him full of demon-hunting bullets. Kadaj was left bleeding to death on Dante's floor; only a hasty DDD post and a timely visit by Demyx were able to save his life. Since then, the hatred between Kadaj and Dante has only become much worse, and should the two ever meet again, it's likely that the fight would be to the death.

Not all of Kadaj's early acquaintances on DDD were enemies, however. The pacifistic and ever-understanding Demyx was one of the first DDD members to look beyond Kadaj's initial psychotic appearance and speak to him with patience and sympathy, thereby earning Kadaj's lasting loyalty and respect. Kadaj also latched onto Youji, sensing a kindred spirit in their mutual sadistic tendencies and their love for violence. In fact, Kadaj was very much attracted to Youji, not realising that Youji was in fact male. Kadaj even went as far as to invite Youji to Gaia to meet him for what he hoped would be a date; Demyx darkportalled Youji to Gaia and acted as a chaperone, amusing himself by catching a Chocobo which he keeps as a pet and has named it Aria. Meanwhile, Kadaj and Youji involved themselves in some heavy petting, which ended abruptly as Kadaj realised that Youji was, in fact, male. The two have since made up and remain friends.

At first, Kadaj was the only one of his three brothers who seemed to have emerged from the Lifestream, and he was disheartened by the absence of his older siblings. Much to his delight, though, Yazoo also began to post, and the two exchanged several messages online before Yazoo returned to the Forgotten City. Yazoo had always been something of a ladies' man, and Kadaj admired his older brother's suave and sophisticated charm.

Kadaj's life changed dramatically as soon as Yunalesca joined up. He liked her as soon as he saw her picture, as she reminded him of his beloved Kaa-san. It wasn't long before Yunalesca paid Kadaj a visit, and they slept together; in the height of passion, though, Kadaj became Sephiroth again, something which Yunalesca seemed to have been aware of when she seduced Kadaj. After their brief romantic encounter, Kadaj posted all about it on DDD and eagerly referred to Yunalesca as his girlfriend, a fact which she was less than keen on - it wasn't long before she left him for the newly re-awakened Sephiroth, leaving Kadaj heartbroken and pining for her.

Not long after Yunalesca's rejection, Yazoo decided to take Kadaj to Gold Saucer to try and cheer him up, but things didn't go quite as planned. Not being used to alcohol, Kadaj got horribly drunk doing Tequila body shots and barely remembered the night at all. A few days after this - fuelled by anger, frustration and despair - he travelled to Gold Saucer alone, where he brutally murdered three call-girls, returning to DDD to gloat over his despicable actions. This only served to confirm Dante's fears that Kadaj was a monster who deserved to die, although Pyramid Head was impressed by Kadaj's shameless brutality.

Things were not bleak for long. Loz, the other brother to make up the three Silver Haired Men, managed to tear himself free from the Lifestream and sign up to DDD. With Loz's return, Kadaj's strange little family was once again complete, and Kadaj found a brief respite from his problems as the three brothers kicked back and enjoyed life just like old times - although Loz seemed to be a lot calmer and more compassionate after having experienced pain and suffering in the Lifestream.

Perhaps one of Kadaj's most infamous entries involved the Colette Porn incident. In order to anger Lloyd enough for him to come and face him on his home turf, Kadaj posted a picture of Colette in a rather uncompromising position, earning him the enmity of just about everyone else on DDD, even those who had, up until this point, been good friends. Another notable episode with Kadaj involved Ian Malcolm, who, during a methadone hit, hit on Kadaj and asked him to marry him. Kadaj is still confused as to Ian Malcolm's true feelings, and isn't sure whether he's attracted to him or not.

However, things were soon to become a LOT more complicated. Kadaj found that having watched countless television interviews and scoured so many news articles about Rufus ShinRa that he was starting to fall for him. He managed to keep this a secret for a while, but the truth came out just as Rufus contracted Geostigma. After Yazoo revealed that Rufus was in the Healin Lodge, he and his brothers paid the President a visit. As they crowded around the bed, Kadaj was overcome with pity and affection for the unconscious Rufus and couldn't bring himself to kill him; he stabbed Rufus non-fatally with the Souba, but unknown to him, ShinRa had the whole place rigged with explosives and brought the building crashing down around them. The three silver-haired men fled, Loz carrying Rufus in his arms.

As they regrouped outside the smouldering Healin Lodge, Wuya appeared, concerned for Rufus' well-being. When it transpired that Kadaj had stabbed ShinRa, she took the President and fled back to her own world, leaving Kadaj to weep in Loz's arms. Soon after that, Rufus ShinRa died, the first victim of the re-activated Geostigma. Rufus' death sent Kadaj into a deep depression for about a week, where he did little more than curl up in front of the television and eat potato chips and ice-cream with Loz.

It soon transpired that Sephiroth and Yunalesca were working together to spread the Geostigma, and that Yunalesca planned to make Sephiroth the new Sin. Kadaj and his brothers disapproved of the use of Geostigma this time around; they felt that it dishonoured their beloved Kaa-san, and served no purpose now as Kaa-san was already dead. The whole DDD community joined together to cure the Geostigma, and Kadaj vowed to defeat Sephiroth in order to set things right. In truth, though, Kadaj's desire to take down Sephiroth was fuelled more by his desire for vengeance for Yunalesca rather than by a wish to do good.

With the help of Lulu - she taught him how to use Holy magic - Kadaj was able to defeat Yunalesca in Zanarkand. Near-death himself, he brought her back to Gaia, where he now intends to keep her as his girlfriend.

Kadaj's attitude has changed dramatically over the following few weeks. He forged an alliance with The Count and sought to make amends for what he regards as the sins of his past, also managing some kind of friendship with Tifa after a soul-searching drinking session in Tifa's bar, Seventh Heaven, as well as engaged in civil discussion with Vincent.

However, after Kadaj won back Yunalesca, his constant - uh - 'intimacy' with her seems to have given Sephiroth the power to take control of Kadaj at any given time. Unfortunately, the reapparance of Sephiroth - combined with the return of his nemesis, Dante - re-awakened Kadaj's more cruel and murderous side, causing him to become abusive, psychotic and generally a complete pain in the ass.

After several days of being possessed intermittently by Sephiroth, Kadaj was seemingly suppressed and taken over by his older brother and creator. He was controlled in this way for almost a week, only managing to break himself free when Sephiroth impaled Yunalesca on the Masamune; seeing his beloved girlfriend hurt in such a way caused a surge of passionate anger, allowing Kadaj to take control of himself once more. Kadaj and Yunalesca then enjoyed a rather steamy reunion, sans-Sephiroth.

Just when Kadaj thought things were turning out alright for him... Jenova returned and joined the community. Although Kadaj truly is deeply in love with Yunalesca, he can't help but be drawn to his Kaa-san, although he is trying very hard to suppress his obsession with her, because it would break his heart to make Yunalesca cry... but damn it, he LOVES his mother. D: in ways that aren't entirely healthy. Quiet, you.

Thanks to whoever posted the recent picture of Jenova in one of his posts, Kadaj also went pretty much over the edge as far as insanity goes, giving Sephiroth another chance to take over; thankfully, Sephiroth was finally separated from Kadaj by a glove given to Yunalesca by Ichigo.

Just when things were starting to look up again, Rufus ShinRa managed kidnap Yazoo and keep him captive in the ShinRa Building. He gave Kadaj an ultimatum - Kadaj had to choose which one of Yazoo, Yunalesca and Jenova would be taken by the ShinRa and experimented on. Kadaj, loving all three of them, headed for ShinRa headquarters, refusing to choose between them and even offering himself as a test subject if only Rufus would let his brother go. Unknown to him, however, Rufus had used Yazoo's capture as a way to lure Kadaj away from home; in his absence, Sephiroth and Jenova effectively sold Yunalesca to ShinRa, as they regard her as a nuisance.

By the time Kadaj realised what had happened, it was too late. Yazoo saw his brother's inability to choose between the three victims as proof that Kadaj hated him, and refused to listen to his brother's side of the story. Rufus then gloated over the fact that he now held Yunalesca captive, prompting Kadaj to launch a rescue team to try and free her. Kadaj also proposed to Yunalesca whilst on his way to rescue her, and she said yes. After invading the ShinRa Building, Yunalesca was freed, but not before Kadaj brutally tortured a ShinRa scientist to death, shocking the other DDD members with him at the time.

Once home, Kadaj and Yunalesca began to settle down together - that is, until Yunalesca tried on Sephiroth's outfit and was caught by Kadaj, who was convinced that she was going to sleep with Sephiroth behind his back. What Kadaj didn't know was that Sephiroth and Jenova had been planning on breaking up him and Yunalesca for some time; although Sephiroth did not fully approve of Kaa-san seducing Kadaj, he went along with her plans in order to please her and achieve her goals.

When Yunalesca left to go back to Spira for a few days, Jenova seduced Kadaj (which wasn't very difficult) and the two of them entered an incestuous relationship for a while. Soon, though, Kadaj realised that he really did miss Yunalesca, and that he was in love with her; he also found his Kaa-san too exhausting. With this decision, he made his way back to Bevelle on Spira, and nursed Yunalesca, who was now pregnant with his children.

But things will never really settle down for Kadaj, will they?  After the birth of the twins - Shiva, a girl, and Ixion, a boy - Kadaj discovered that during his absence from Gaia, Jenova had seduced Rufus ShinRa, and then been hit by a shot from a Makou Cannon, fired by a jealous Scarlet.  Enraged and upset, Kadaj returned to Gaia to look after his Kaa-san, and also to vent his rage at her, because he is so very fond of Rufus ShinRa.  In all honesty, he only meant to spend a few days on Gaia making sure Jenova was alright, but Yunalesca took his sudden trip to mean that he had left her, and unceremoniously dumped him, causing him to angst and whine even more.

Kadaj tried to remain faithful to Yunalesca, he really did - but Sephiroth swooped in while Kadaj was away, and slept with Yunalesca behind his back.  Shortly after this, Yunalesca was Sent back to the Farplane by Seymour, and so Kadaj ran back into the arms of his mother, entering into an incestuous relationship with her once more. He also found out that Sephiroth was mistreating the children and so snuck back to Spira to rescue them, bringing them safely to Gaia.

Yunalesca, however, did not remain Sent for long.  She managed to break free and live again; on her return, though, Sephiroth was able to slip her a drink of Black Water and make her under his control.  He intended to marry her, but Kadaj, with the help of his brother Yazoo, were able to rescue Yunalesca from the ceremony and return to Gaia.

After being on Gaia for a while, however, Kadaj began to grow restless; with the return of Dante to the community, he itched once more to indulge in combat, and began to act erratically, picking fights with both Dante and Larxene.  Whilst fighting Dante, Rufus ShinRa had hired Lady to render Yunalesca helpless and managed to kidnap the children, Shiva and Ixion; he gave them to Q, who adopted them against Kadaj and Yunalesca's wishes.

Q seemed to eventually grow tired of the children, and they were returned to Yunalesca; but by this point, Yunalesca and Kadaj had separated due in no small part to kadaj's ongoing attraction to Rufus ShinRa.  Kadaj tried to prove his love for Yunalesca and she challenged him to find her as she was on a different world from him.  After some searching, he was finally able to track her down to Spira and be at her side, only for her to dissipate and return into the ether from whence she came.  Distraught, Kadaj brought the children back with him to Gaia, and he now resides in the Forgotten Capital with them, along with Sephiroth.  Kadaj resents Sephiroth's presence and fears that Sephiroth will turn Ixion to his will.

The Player:  Kadaj-mun can stop being obsessed with Kadaj and 'Final Fantasy: Advent Children' any time that she wants to. Honest. She just chooses not to. Also, she has issues with her job and real life in general, because it keeps her away from her intravenous internet connection.
