The Story: NiGHTS into Dreams is a video game developed by Sonic Team for the Sega Saturn video game system. There was also a series of six comic books created, the first three as an adaption of the game.

In NiGHTS, you play as an acrobatic jester-like creature by the name of NiGHTS. The setting is Nightmare, the side of the dream realm where bad dreams take place, and Nightopia, where good dreams are had. Having once been one of the top two high-levelled Nightmaren created by the evil ruler of Nightmare, Wizeman the Wicked, you've been imprisoned in the center of Nightopia for rebelling against his plans.

Wizeman is seeking to gain power to take control of Nightopia... and, eventually, the waking world. In Nightopia, distinct aspects of the dreamers' personalities are represented by glowing colored spheres known as "Ideya" - these are the things that Wizeman is attempting to steal.

Long after the imprisonment of NiGHTS, a boy and girl from the city of Twin Seeds arrive in Nightopia, each possessing the rare red Ideya of Courage -- the only type Wizeman cannot steal. They use it to release NiGHTS, and begin the battle with Wizeman in order to restore peace to Nightopia - and protect the waking realm.
