In General:

Philomel St. James (dragon_scholar, played by Phil-mun) comes from Dragons: The Modern Infestation. Since there aren't any proper characters in that book, her mun gets to play fast and loose with her backstory, so bear that in mind.

Philomel is 26 years old, well-mannered, and soft-spoken, with a fairly easily-pinged maternal instinct. She is polite and courteous and has a tendency, because of her name and her fairly ambiguous userpics, to be mistaken for a man.

She's a young woman who went to university for art, and traveled to the Ascension Island in the Atlantic Ocean when it was "rediscovered", to draw the dragons there. The only other permanent human resident of the island, she quickly became Philip Marsden's assistant, both in dragon-related studies and in the other fieldwork he does.

Together, they worked on books about the two distinct languages of the dragons, as well as attempting to discern as much about their anatomy as they could.

Eventually, they picked up and moved to Brasil to work with Marta and Baodelio Santander. Everyone's still working on those dragon languages, but they're getting better! Really! They are!

Though it hasn't happened in game yet--Philomel joined while she was still on Ascension with Philip--they will at some point travel around the world having dragon-y adventures together. Philip will hurt himself on a mountain climb, and while he's recuperating, the two of them will found the New Zealand School of Dragon Studies.

Philomel is an only child, raised in London with her parents. She gets along well with both of them, though her mother was always the disciplinarian of the family, and Philo's decision to go to Ascension put serious strain on their relationship. (Serious, serious strain.)

She's never been good at making friends of either gender, and is totally still a virgin. She didn't have any pets when she was a kid because her mother wouldn't let her get them, though she's always liked animals.

She went to university for studio art and portraiture, and planned to pursue a career in doing commissioned art for people. Then she found out about the dragons, and just couldn't resist. She doesn't regret it at all.

It's 1963 in her world.

When Philomel first learned about that whole "different worlds" thing, shortly after joining DDD, she thought it was some sort of elaborate joke. The notion was fascinating to her, but so hard to believe that she dismissed it uneasily .

Then Demyx brought Kurt to the island, so she could show him how a camera worked, and...well. Kind of hard to keep on denying when the evidence is presented in the flesh. Attending the Masquerade Ball only convinced her further--and resulted in her having to explain to Philip about the unique nature of DDD. (It remains to be seen what kind of effect this will have on her activity.)

Philomel has been on the comm for a while now, but feels like she's still trying to get to know people. She is particularly fond of Kurt, Otto Octavius and Peter Parker, Panchito Pistoles and Eva Wei. She will never, ever, ever forget Demyx. Ever.

She disappeared for several months while her mun went on a summer-long hiatus D: , during which time she and Philip gave up their studies on Ascension and made the (canonical) move to Brazil to live and study with Marta Froedlich and Baodelio Santander.

She got hit with the alignment virus, which, instead of making her crazy-evil, made her husband-crazy. She retained much of her politeness, but started talking about a "woman's place" and her "duties" to her husband and family. She actively sought a husband of her own on the community, going so far as to proposition a couple of people. She also terribly insulted Marta, and got locked in her room for a day for the trouble.

It goes without saying that she was very embarrassed by it all when the virus wore off, though she didn't really remember anything. The RL tension (that her mun made up entirely) was so bad that she actually went and stayed with Panchito for a few days, so she could destress.

She went to the aquarium on Maraich's world, mostly because she knew Demyx was going to be there. She'll always treasure the time she got to spend with him--but likes that she got to get to know Alize a little better, and to meet Edgeworth.

She helped out with the Genie trial by collating and organizing all the evidence provided, and was also present at the trial itself. She volunteered her help in his rescue mission.

She also went to Peter's New York to help him go through Dr. Curt Connors' notes when he was turned into the Lizard, and again when he went to confront the Lizard. (She didn't do too much, but she was there.) Now Connors has joined the community, which is cool because she was told a lot about him even before the Lizard thing, and is going to come visit her world, which is also cool!
