Shadow Hearts is the abusive boyfriend of Historical Accuracy that pretends it's set in the early 20th century (and one in 1889). At first it just did little things, like a mini-skirt in Koudelka. Then it was what-may-be-a-walkie-talkie-but-looks-like-a-cell-phone and phrases like "Let's rock!" in the year 1914.
Now, it's flying robots, talking cats who film movies in Purramount Studios, a vampire who dresses like a bishoujo anime heroine turned gothic, and a Native American priestess-slash-pseudo-princess who gets naked every time she uses her special power, all in the year 1929.
Historical Accuracy puts up with it because the crack is just that good.
