Toph's Journal
Toph Bei Fong was the sheltered, only child of one of the richest families in the Earth Kingdom grew up living a double life. She appeared to be a poor, helpless, blind girl. While she could earthbend, her teacher had strict orders to keep her at a beginner's level, basic forms and breathing exercises only. That, however, was not for Toph. She learned how to earthbend from the badgermoles, who are also blind. This helped her use her abilities to sense vibrations in the ground, allowing her to "see".
Cutting through the episodes quickly, the Gaang finds Toph, after Aang beats her at Earth Rumble 6, at her house. Aang and Toph get captured by Xin Fu, head of Earth Rumble 'cause he thinks Toph took a dive on prupose and was going to split the money with Aang (so not true). Toph is freed by the ransom her father gives, but she agrees to help when Sokka and Katara ask for her to help them fight. Her father and earthbending teacher watch in the stands. Toph takes them out easily while her father watches nervously. Even when Aang is free, Katara and Sokka stop him from joining the fight as Toph had told them they were her's to take on. Once she was back home, she told them how she was a great earthbender and how she loved fighting, and how she hoped it didn't change how they felt about her. Her father said he still loved her, but that he know saw that he had given her too much freedom and would be put under constant guard, 24/7. He also asked Aang and his friends to leave. Before they can take off, Toph comes running up to them and tells them her father changed his mind. This is a blatant lie as she has clearly run away. Her father sends two goons to get his daughter back after (falsely) believing that the Avatar (Aang) kidnapped Toph. These goons are Xin Fu, of Earth Rumble, and her former teacher, Master Yu.
As the series progresses, she makes friends with Iroh after fighting with her new friends and leaving them due to a few sleepless nights and her "I can take care of myself, by myself" attitude clashing with the others (mainly Katara). She does manage to teach Aang earthbending through some rather unorthodox methods, and soon accpets them as her friends, and even as her new family. After splitting up in Ba Sing Se, the goons her dad hired finally caught her and started to bring her home. However they never made it as Toph figured out that metal has some tiny fragments of earth in it and learned how to metalbend. She ended up locking them away in the metal box they trapped her in. Their fate has not been looked at since, and Toph really doesn't give a flying fuck about what happened to them either.
Due to being apped before season 3 aired, she and several other Avatar characters missed out on being aligned with season 3 canon and are just getting around to fixing that situation. :X
Stuff Around the Comm:
- Both Aang and Toph went to the Zaza Masquerade and participated in the Mascorrida. Toph beat her first opponent (Roxas), but lost to King Mickey in the second round.
- Toph became pretty good friends with Eva. Both girls having had issues with their repsective parents (Eva with her dad, Toph with both) and being independent in nature. She promised to give Eva a bit of physical training, as well as teach Jordan earthbending.
- When the genderswap virus came around, she had very limited sympathy as her leg had broken recently.
- Toph was very grateful to Jordan when he got Iroh out of prison (but how long that lasts, we don't know). It was around that same time that her leg had healed and they reunited with Sokka (different from the one on the comm... don't ask, long, weird, and highly complicated story), Katara, the Earth King, and Appa.
- She usually gets annoyed with people who act stupid, she thinks are insulting her, underestimate her because of her age or blindness, or just come off as annoying.
- She was affected by the family virus, led to believe that Giles and Rose were her parents, Jack Spicer her older brother, Ramza her younger adopted brother (who she loved more), Iroh as her own uncle, and Aang her cousin and Iroh's adopted son.
- During aforementioned virus: Toph got pissed off at DWD for insinuating that her family wasn't her family (which was technically true), she found a fast friend in Kimiko who hated Jack as much as much as she did (and Jack still annoys her, even though the virus has worn off), and she also smashed some of Jack's Jackbots (the rest had been given to Ramza's friend, Mustadio).
- Despite being very capable with her blindness, Toph harbors a small desire to be able to see. She talked to Apollo about it and he agreed. The RL never did get finished, so technically, she still doesn't know what her friends and the world looks like. Hell, she still doesn't know that some people are hedgehogs or ducks.... >_>
- After a very brief conversation with Magica DeSpell, Toph found herself a new enemy. However, she took a bit of a liking to her brother, Poe since they agreed that Magica was, indeed, a bitch.
